Computers - Can't Live Without them Even if they are temperamental!

For the second time in a month I have lost my iTunes and am having to reload them from back-up files.
This is a pain in the ass considering the size of the file-over 48Gig.
I wouldn't have to it if my system wouldn't lock up and cause me to reboot.
What can you do!
Computers are now a utility we cannot live without!

MOC Grand of Oregon CofA

This weekend was the Military Order of The Cootie-[The Honor Degree of The VFW] Grand of Oregon Council of Administration and the Grand Commander's and Auxiliary President's Testimonial Banquet.
I always have a fun time with these folks and this weekend was yet another weekend of fun.
I was congratulating the Mistress of Ceremonies on the great job she did when she mentioned that she felt the Past Grand Commander's Testimonial last year was much better!
I was kind of surprised with her saying this. I suppose I had always assumed there was a tiny bit of friction between her and her husband and our past Grand Commander, Gary-who is one of my mentors and a great guy to talk with on just about any topic.
I was really stumped. At some time I will have to mention this to Gary and see if I read this couple who are so active in the MOC to see if I really was on the wrong track!
But I was very pleased to hear it! One thing Gary and I seem to have in common is that we both don't fit a standard mold and it always seems that folks are trying to do that with us.
Well Gary! Here's to you! You left lasting and good impressions on Maddy and at least you didn't have to hold your nuts like Bob did! Ha!

Gee Dubya's State of The Union Address

I cannot believe it!
I read in the paper this morning that this idiot President is going to 'tell Americans tonight that he has important plans for health care, education and other kitchen table topics.'
Like he has been in office for six years already and NOW he wants to bring these important issues up!
I cannot wait 'til 2008!

Hillary Forging the Presidential Path

It's out-she is studying the waters!
One way or another I see her running as a positive for the DNC.
I believe that Obama running will also add speed to the DNC current and thus will ear mark some record breaking, I hope, competition!
We all know in our hearts that this country needs and is pleading for change. I see the DNC carrying the ball all the way in the next two years!

Extended School Year!

With my neighborhood full of children on Snow Days.
I have been concerned that our future politicians and engineers aren't getting the full education they need to go on to University.
I am wrong! Our school district is one of a few that has a rule that extends the school year for every Snow day!
This means that while the Portland area children will be out of school by June 13th my area will be in school at least until June 22nd, if there are no more Snow days!

A Very Intriguing Film

I just happened to see 'A Scanner Darkly.' I highly recommend it to anyone who likes films of a different kind. This film is in the Genre of cartoon, yet very well created. Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Woody Harrelson & Robert Downey Jr. are the major characters. Set in the future with the majority of the population addicted to Substance-D we find twist and turns delving into this group of friends. With one being an under cover cop the twists keep coming as the plans to eliminate this drug becomes the cop focus. The ending is fantastic and now I want to read the novel by Philip K. Dick.

SNOW!

I woke up yesterday to Snow!
So much snow that I know it would be lingering and over night would turn icy.
So yesterday afternoon I drove out in it to get more firewood and a few added needed items to hold me over, too bad I didn't stop and get more Scotch!
I am proud of myself for driving in it and not stressing, considering I have PTSD due to 2 near fatal accidents.
It is nice to see the kids in the CUL de sac making snow men and women. They even made a sizable Igloo!
The shame is that something like this should not effect their learning!
Now I only hope my supply of Scotch holds out!

A Few Good Movies

There are a few good movies to add to your viewing list. If you haven't seen 'The Devil Wears Prada' & 'The Illusionist' are movies not to miss. I really enjoyed 'Prada' and feel many might miss the intricate underlinings of the dialog. The fact that we all want to make it big and yet not want to look like we are stepping on the backs of others to get there. It happens and is sad, but some make it and others just don't have the fortitude. Is that really stepping on others backs? 'The Illusionist' is a brilliant film with an old setting feel. I love the filming and costumes. The storyline keeps you interested and is a movie I am sure to want to see again! A 2005 film I just saw is 'The Great White.' If you are a Robin Williams fan or love the dark humor movies such as the Coen Brothers then 'The Great White' is for you! Set in Alaska, Robin plays a down on his luck, out of money travel agent whose wife, played by Holly Hunter, seems to have Torrets Syndrome that the HMO won't cover. The twists and turns of this movie are hysterical! I'm looking forward to a great year of movies this 2007!

Victoria's Secret has gone Tagless

Yes folks it is true!
I just received my new Bras from them and there is no little tag in them telling you the size and wash instructions.
Those are now neatly stamped directly inside the back to the bra!
I believe Fruit-of-the-Loom was the first to do this last year!
Nice! No one likes to look like a Geek, even a Geek, with the tag sticking out the back collar and such!

In Keeping with our Bill of Rights

In keeping with The Bill of Rights I have just received my Concealed Weapons license.
I will head to Washington State soon & file for theirs so I do not have to worry when traveling-a disabled woman alone.

Passport Needed

For those intending trips to Mexico, Canada or the Islands such a Cozumel. A Passport is now necessary to enter AND return.
Makes me wonder how many of our Mexican residents may have gotten stuck in Mexico after the New Year when the law was actuated and they didn't have passports.
I know my neighbors took their 3 children. The wife has a GREEN card & the husband became a US citizen. They go to Mexico to visit family every couple of years and hadn't gone in some time.
I do hope they knew of the law prior to going, but as school begins again tomorrow and they haven't yet returned; it makes me wonder!

Sometimes People Come Back Into Your Life

It's been 25yrs since my first marriage & just before the holidays I got a letter & DVD from EX#1.
The DVD was a collage of our old slides & 8MM film from our motorcycle trips. Great to see again!
The letter was nice & made me realize that all this time CAN & DID heal wounds.
Love is a crazy thing anyway!
So today I got a pkg with 2 music CDs & one of photos to bring me up to date on the EX#1.
He even gave his Email address!
ANY YES! I did write a long note to him!
Lets just see if I penned his Email correctly!
It feels nice to have the pain gone & feel a friendship where one began so long ago!
