Pay It Forward

We all too often make New Year's resolutions with little or no intention of really following through with them.
That is why I usually retreat from making them myself.
It happens to be at New Year's eve and I just happen to have decided on directing my behavior/habits towards 'Paying It Forward.'
Some will call it a New Year's resolution and that's fine, but so many times I have been on the receiving end of a friend or Comrades gratitude and because of this I now plan to work towards 'paying it forward' in that I intend to keep this 'giving' attitude moving in a forward momentum.
I am also going to make certain to prioritize myself higher on the To Do lists and care for myself and my health better than I have.
We women are brought up with the motherly behavior that leaves ourselves overburdened and worn out because of everyone else's needs and we reduce our needs and health.
I intend to redefine my attitude and behavior and thus have a mental mind set that I am worthy of top priority and in caring for my own needs and health all my friends, family and Comrades will also benefit!
I will attempt to chart this by keeping it in the forefront of my mind and stay aware of my actions and behaviors.
I indeed hope we all have a happy, healthy New Year!
May our homes be filled with friends, family and joy.
May we Honor the Dead, Heal the Wounded & End the War!

Down to the Minute

For those of you who missed watching the Sun Bowl today-you missed some of the best college football of the year!
The Oregon Beavers weren't clicking in their plays right away and thus let the Missouri Tigers score the first touchdown.
With a few incomplete passes there was still some great plays and ball control on both sides.
By half-time our Beavers were behind the Tigers.
It was a very Beaver game in that the Beavs seem to kick into gear in the second half of their games.
They pulled some tactics and turned the score around just to have the Tigers come back with some terrific plays and take the lead away again.
There's no question that Moore definitely had his quarterback plays down and the team was tight.
With about 1:41 left on the clock and the Beavers behind with a 24 38 score most would be ready to head for the car and home.
That was just when head coach Mike Riley pulls a time-out and tells the Beavers to get in there and win...and they promptly went in a made 2 touchdowns.
With 22 seconds left on the clock and a kick would make a tie or a rush would make a win Mike Riley goes for broke and the Sammy Stroughter rushed the few yards for the Beaver win!
Coach Riley said, after the game:
"Just a typical Beaver win!"
Great game and a great year for the Beavers!

Take It Like a Marine

I've got an old buddy who recently lost his wife.
I went to his place and helped go through his fridge and freezer because he had no idea what was in there and good, bad or how to cook it.
So we cleaned it all out and I took a bunch of the stuff home and prepared it. Made soup, Hot wings and a pot roast. All of which I paid out of my own pocket the veggies etc.. I even took him to an appointment in Portland so he could talk to the Service Officer and get paperwork filed for VA benefits, which he has never done and is a Korean Vet!
He is very poor, but I am a bit put off because everytime I talk to him he plays to poor me card.
I have come to the conclusion that he will now have a pity party on his own!
We all have issues and a couple months past his wife's passing and he is still playing that card.
A few other buddies have mention that they noticed this too!
It's a shame and I hope he gets over this before he loses friends, because I personally have no intention on calling him if he is going to be like this!

U.S. Deaths in Iraq Surpass 9/11 Toll!

So says the newspaper today!
When are the politicians going to stop this slaughter!
No one will win in the war.
We should cut our losses and leave Iraq to the Iraqis.

A Happy Season of Joy

I have lit my last Hannukah candle yesterday and today is the beginning of many of my friend's and family's holiday!
When I receive presents from my friends I have always opened them on this night-Xmas Eve.
My dearest friend Jane always seems to come up with very special, meaningful presents and without a doubt she did so yet again!
She got me a lovely, soft creamy colored electric blanket I will use while in my study! I have NEVER felt anything as soft!
She also got/gave me a lovely Tiffany lamp with three tulip type lamps like lilies and lovely brass leaves with a gorgeous dragon fly with red winds in the front!
I is already in place in my bedroom!
Jane has given me warmth and light!
What more could I receive from such a great friend!

Paying It Forward

I have a Great buddy that I should call a friend, but I am going by the auspices of the VFW & all; plus I don't want anyone to think that he is anything BUT a BUDDY!
None-the-less, my Buddy met me at the American Legion Hall-because yet again we want no one to think anything but that we are friends!-OK-So he gave me this huge box filled with what he called and mini 'Class Six' which is what we in the Navy and USMC call our liquor stores on base!
A Great old Marine, of 91 years, had given him all his 'Booze' and asunderies.
And Gary wound up giving me a large choice sum of it.
I make this note because so many times we are joyful as a recipient, but forget to 'pay it forward.'
I have a chosen set of the Booze I am using to do just that.
I believe my New Years Resolution will be just that.
To make certain that every good deed done me will be paid forward!
May we find PEACE unto the land this New Year!

I'm A Happy Girl!

My garage door is fixed, though they recommend a panel be replaced.
I got more CDs & books from the library AND
my dear friend Rene and her Hubby sent me a huge basket of Hickory Farms goodies for Xmas!
I will be grazing in style through the holidays!

A Break in The Weather-Winter Solstice

The weather has turned a tide & is clear & warmer today.
It means not having to burn as much firewood, but on the other hand it means the kids are out playing in the cul-de-sac!
I never recall any of us little girls screaming when I was young, probably because one of the neighbor Aunties or my mom would've back handed them!
I cannot wait for the next storm!

Early Morning Wake Up

I am waiting on maintenance for my garage door which is stuck open until it gets re-aligned and whatever else it needs to track right and open and close.
Well early this morning I get woken up by a flashlight in my face held by a cop!
We got to talking and chatting about things once he realized the neighbor who called it in was miss informed and I wasn't on vacation and that someone had broken into my house.
As the officer and I were chatting Carolyn, my neighbor came up and apologized, I said "No reason to apologize! Thank you for being a concerned neighbor!" It's nice to know some one is looking out for me!

Noxzema Sheets

I hate finding a new product, falling in love with it and then when you use it up and go out to get more you can't find it for the life of you!
That is what recently happened with the new Noxzema facial sheets/wipes.
I went through every grocery and drug store in town and no one carries them, let alone their big products.
I finally broke down and got on their website and sent them an Email.
Let's see what they say!
Nice product for taking on trips and doing a quick makeup clean on your face!
I loved them and used them almost every night because they were easy to use and you didn't get all wet from a full face wash in the sink!
I'll let you know if anything comes of my Email to them!
I do hope the product is still on the market!

If It's Not One Thing Then It's Another

I cannot believe it!
I drive back home from an Xmas party on Saturday night only to find all the power out AGAIN!!!
So of course that meant this disabled broad had to unlock the front door in the dark and find a flashlight and then go man handle my garage door to get my car in the garage!
When the power finally came back on I still had problems with the garage door! It would not completely close.
So there it stayed and I asked my Brother if he could come check it out in the morning.
My brother came over and all he could do was at least get the door completely back up so I could get my car out in an emergency.
I am now awaiting maintenance to come fix it, but with all the power troubles I know I am not on the top of their list!

9 Nano Seconds

Of all the questions on the various Naval Advancement exams I remember the answer to the question:
What is the longest allowable duration during a commercial power outage and transfer to UPS- Uninterrupted Power System?
The answer is 9 nano seconds!
That is the CT Naval Standard.
Considering we ARE the Best Naval Fleet in the world of course our systems would be the best.
We come from a 1st world country-Oops!
No more! I am certain that our 1st world status is diminishing!
For the ninth time since I have lived here my power has again gone out! 5:43 PM and did not return until midnight!
I believe if I attempted to measure it in nano seconds this would be into the billions!
The six plus hours I was without power, along with over 140,000 other homes! Is without a doubt that if we cannot even be consistent with our utilities then how can we expect to have the scientists and mathematicians to move our technologies further into the future!
2nd World Country mark my words!
It may even happen in my lifetime!

A Must See Documentary

I just saw "The Ground Truth" a Documentary on the war in Iraq.
It is told by the Grunts-Soldiers, Marines and Sailors who were there!
For those of us who have always wondered why we were in Iraq rather than Saudi Arabia where the REAL Terrorists are this is a Documentary that makes you realize how frustrated our Comrades are.
All of them seemed to say that there was some point where they asked themselves "Why are we here?"
A poignant realization on what we are doing to our military in the guise of National Safety and Freedom.
Like the film says:
"Sometimes the greatest act of courage is to tell the truth!"
This is a must see!

With Love Comes Respect

Maybe the reason I have been divorced twice is just this reason.
I can't be certain.
Recently I was located by my first EX.
He had called my mother, while she still lived in Southern California, asking how to get hold of me and since my mother follows my dictum she did not give him any other info, but that I lived in Oregon.
Needless to say he finally located my address.
I was certain there was an agenda, but it seems he was just reminiscing over our times and all the motorcycle runs we went on.
He sent a DVD he made of old 8mm film and slides from our runs.
It is very neat and I hustled a reply with a CD of photos to boot!
None-the-less I feel I am not the marrying kind.
I had off color nick names for both spousal units and yet my Buddy Gary always calls his wife, of 33yrs, "My Bride" when he speaks of her. I suppose I have never felt that deep a love for some one, YET!

A Movie Must See

I haven't seen many movies worth mentioning lately until this one!
It is an incredible film.
I fear writing much more and giving something away so here is the plot analysis from Amazon:
"What I will say is that this film shows a big twist on the standard run of the mill pedifile films of late.
For three weeks, 14-year-old Hayley Stark has been chatting on-line with 'Lensmaster319', a 32-year old fashion photographer, named Jeff. The two agree to meet at a coffee shop called Nighthawks. They hit it off, despite the massive age difference. Hayley appears to flirt with Jeff, and Jeff generally restrains himself, even admitting that he must wait 4-years until he can be with her. But his reservations are apparently not enough to decline when Hayley all but invites herself over to his house. Once at the house, manipulation becomes the name of the game, and the pedophile seems to be on the non-traditional side of it."

I Am a Techno Geek!

I love High Tech electronic gadgets and my biggest vice on them is the one and only iPod!
I began, over a year ago, with a 20 Gig fourth generation iPod and loved it! I soon realized I had outgrown it and needed more..Bigger...Faster...Techier..More iPod!
So I finally moved up toe a 60 Gig black video iPod!
I also own and study all the top manuals on iPods:
iPod & iTunes for DUMMIES
iPod & iTunes The Missing Manual
iPod & iTune Master Visually
My Bro and his wife had gotten me and iHome last year and I love it and even travel with it! (I haven't found a decent travel unit, with good speakers and alarm clock system, yet!)
I gave my 20 Gig iPod & a car system cable to a friend of mine.
So now they have come out with an 80 Gig Video iPod...YES! You are right! I AM a Techno Geek! I got one!
Now I am setting it up to be rather special and will more than likely use it will traveling and keep the 60 Gig iPod for home use.
I am having a blast with them!

Stupid People!

It overwhelmed me that there are actually people this stupid.
I went by the library to drop off a book and being disabled I approached the handicap parking in front of the library.
There was a woman, dropping off books, who parked in the loading/unloading wheelchair portion of in between the handicap parking stalls.
Being fed up with this nonsense I told her she is parking in the handicap parking. She said that, get this, she wasn't that she the portion she was in didn't have a handicap sign so it isn't handicap parking.
I blew it and asked 'Are you really that stupid!'
I believe I met the first person I have come across that actually DID vote for Bush both times and cannot figure out why that wasn't a good choice!
We're going down the tubes and this country is becoming a 2nd world country!
Mark my words! I just hope I'm not around to see it happen!

Then the Beavers showed their stuff in Hawaii against the Warriors!
Just a great weekend of football!
I haven't followed the game so enthusiastically since the seventies!
I believe I will be following it much more from now on!

Geeze!

I cannot believe it!
I could not open this damned jar
Yes! I have arthritis, but dang! I'm not that old yet!
I am going to be complaining to Vlasic for the fact that their jar doesn't fit in the Black & Decker Jar Opener.
I had to saw this one open with a serrated knife! SHEESH!
You know you want sauerkraut pretty bad when you have to resort to this nonsense!
Makes me realize how disabled I really am and that makes me sad!
