There's Always Something NEW to Learn!

Playing with my Blog site, I have learned that there is always room to learn some more!
Although I have an AA, BS & MHR, there is always something more to learn!
I plan on taking some html & C++ courses soon & found many that are online!
My sister-in-law takes night classes in quilting and such!
I have 2 software programs I am working with to learn screensaver copy & another on guitar practice.
Sometimes the old newspaper crossword puzzle just isn't enough!
They really are making it easier by having online courses too!
No matter how much you already know...There is always room for more! I enjoy the challenge and challenge you all to explore new frontiers and get those brain cells working!

Republican National Convention Began

Some friends have asked if I planned on watching the convention.
There's an old phrase that says "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!" I watched some of it tonight.
I wanted to hear what McCain would say.
I was surprised to hear his speach a complete defense of the War we started in Iraq.
If this is how the entire convention goes, it's going to get very boring very soon!
Funny how lies and deceit now comes with the penalty of defense in their actions.
Some things were never meant to be recycled!
Our country cannot handle another 4 years of this tyrant!

Democratic Song for the RNC

As we Demorcrats enter into the RNC time zone,
we need to have our Song in mind.
Please note Alan Parsons (Project) gets all rights on this, as that it beckons from the Stereotomy Album side two/track one:
THE "BUSH" WORLD:

ONE MORE COPROMISE I WON'T BE MAKING
ONE MORE EASY WAY OUT I WON'T BE TAKING
SO MANY CHANCES DON'T COME TWICE
SO MANY EYES ARE MADE OF ICE
ONE MORE CHEATING HAND I WON'T BE SHAKING

ONE MORE SUBSTITUTE I WON'T BE TRYING
ONE MORE PIECE OF THE ROCK THAT I'M NOT BUYING
SO MANY TIMES WE STAND AND FIGHT
SO MANY REASONS CAN'T BE RIGHT
ONE MORE SIMPLE TRUTH I'M NOT DENYING

TOO MANY LONELY HEARTS IN THE "BUSH:" WORLD
TOO MANY LONELY NIGHTS IN THE "BUSH" WORLD
TOO MANY FOOLS WHO DON'T THINK TWICE
TOO MANY WAYS TO PAY THE PRICE
DON'T WANNA LIVE MY LIFE IN THE "BUSH" WORLD

ONE MORE SACRIFICE I WON'T BE MAKING
ONE MORE GOLDEN RULE I WON'T BE BREAKING
NO ONE TO LET ME STATE MY CASE
NO ONE TO TELL ME TO MY FACE
ONE MORE SWEET SURPRISE I WON'T BE FAKING

TOO MANY LONELY HEARTS IN THE "BUSH" WORLD
TOO MANY LONELY NIGHTS IN THE "BUSH" WORLD
TOO MANY FOOLS WHO DON'T THINK TWICE
TOO MANY WAYS TO PAY THE PRICE
DON'T WANNA LIVE MY LIFE IN THE "BUSH" WORLD

TOO MANY LONELY HEARTS IN THE "BUSH" WORLD
TOO MANY LONELY NIGHTS IN THE "BUSH" WORLD
TOO MANY FOOLS WHO DON'T THINK TWICE
TOO MANY WAYS TO PAY THE PRICE
DON'T WANNA LIVE MY LIFE IN THE "BUSH" WORLD

Political Reading

I am an avid reader with a wide variety of subjects I enjoying reading about.
One particular subject has maximized my reading time the most lately.
Considering the National Elections are this November, it isn't surprising that I am reading many of the books on the subject of our politics & economy.
Here are a few worth mentioning & recommending:
WORKING POOR INVISIBLE IN AMERICA by
DAVID K. SHIPLER

Worse than Watergate : The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush by John W. Dean
BUSHWHACKED: Life in George W. Bush's America by
Molly Ivins & Lou Dubose

The Politics of Truth: Inside the Lies that lead to War & Betrayed my Wife's CIA Identity by
Ambassador Joseph Wilson

If you haven't the time to read any of these or other books then at least care enough about yours & your family's
health care,
freedom,
education,
taxes,
natural resources & all other issues......VOTE!

Thanks for the ReRuns!

Most of you are tired of ReRuns, but that is because you are stuck in the same old....Same old!
It's high time to break out of the mold & venture into new ground!
I have been watching ReRuns this summer, but of shows I missed these past years.
We can't see it ALL & having been stationed overseas whilst serving our country, I missed many shows I enjoy.
I was not willing to subject myself to watching them on my Euro-Satty in Arabic, German, French, Spanish or anything other than good old American English!
Lately, I have seen many episodes missed of the various Star Trek series'.
I had never seen the Voyager crew make it home from the Gama Quadrant, nor DS9 battle & win the war with the Dominion.
There are those shows I never got acquainted with.
I found, through friends, & am now enjoying because various channels are showing them as ReRuns.
Becker comes to mind.
Those of you who enjoy my type of humor & off sided wit will enjoy Ted Danson as a Harvard MD in N.Y. with his own practice & giving his opinion easier than a prescription.
I am also watching Nip & Tuck, thanks to my dearest friend.
This is an hour long show with plastic surgeons showing that the Doctor's end of the scalpel may have some serious issues to deal with too!
HMmmm they can get heavy into the WOW zone!
All I can say is that for the last week of ReRuns before the new season begins, try to embrace some shows you haven't seen before.
We humans are wondrous and we delight in all venues of entertainment!
Alas young Knave! Go Forth & venture into the unknown! I'll be waiting in the wing!

My Very Used Library Card!

I am a heavy user of my library card. I know many of you rent DVDs, but I have saved a wad of money by using my library card & my computer instead!
My library, like most these days, is linked up to all the libraries in my county. Thus, I have a larger spectrum to chose from than just my one city facility.
I log onto my library system & can request newly released DVDs!
Of course I am not the only one doing this, so I might have to wait a spell for my turn, but I can place up to 60 requests on my system & that is plenty of movies, books & even music CDs that I can & DO request!
If you haven't tried this, I recommend checking out your local library & ask them about this system & see for yourself!
Using the library, I also have the capability of retaining the said DVD for a week rather than just overnight like a rental outlet. So my family, neighbors & friends wind up getting their turn to view it as well!
Give it a try & you might find that the library becomes your new & cheaper opportunity store!

Dirty Politics

I can't believe Bush has the gal to ask Kerry's camp to halt the Bush bashing commercials when Bush has the most ludicrous Kerry bashing commercials!
Trying to taint his military career.
Well GeDubya you went too far!
The fact that you only served in the National Guard.
A fact that now can't be proven because all documentation is now mysteriously missing!
At this point GeDubya! All you are doing is making more enemies and leading more towards Kerry's camp.
It's a shame when all you can find to bash someone's integrity with is false statements of a military career that IS on record!
Stay clear GeDubya because YOUR end is near!
It's time for truth in the White House!

Alan Parsons latest album "A Valid Path" is out!

It has been some time for us Parsons fans and now his latest album has hit the store shelves.
This album has more creative engineering in it and yet has a little taste of his previous albums.
For those of you who already enjoy his creative musical style, this is another hit!
For those of you always eager for something different and fresh then I suggest a good listen to this album.

Storm Thorgerson created the album cover and suffered personal circumstances during production.

Alan Parsons is donating a portion of the proceeds, of this album, to Transition House Family Homelessness Program & The Storm Thorgerson Rehabilitation Trust Fund.

Time Well Spent

I have come to enjoy my peace and quiet. I enjoy reading, whatever book I am involved in reading daily, as I take time to do things each day that I enjoy. I am lucky in my un-luckiness in that I am retired. Not by choice, but by disability, while active duty in the US Navy overseas. I also enjoy my Emails & chats online with friends. These things bring me closer to the world that I enjoy & they remind me of the simple pleasures in life. I first learned of the simple pleasures in life while stationed in Naples, Italy. The Neapolitans showed me how to take the time to smell the flowers and how important it is to embrace the joy of seeing the grapes on the vine before they are picked and turned into the first wine of the new season. I now find myself embracing each moment for its own right and have found in myself a peace and reckoning I have never known. Joy, peace, calm, these words were never in my vocabulary...Just ask my ex-husbands! If there is anything I can pass to others it would be to find this peace and joy. I am now committed to the joy of life on a daily basis by seeking a little peace in a piece of each day!

Telephone perturbation

I had purchased a new AT&T wireless phone with base, having caller ID & answering machine, just last year and yet the past few weeks I have had nothing but havoc trying to get a decent replacement battery and having it charge properly. Only to find the trouble was with the phone itself! To my chagrin, I pulled out the sales receipt, only to find that I was past the one year warranty by 25 days! Talk about a set up! I always found it nice to buy a product that has a full year warranty, but now I feel like they have us and we wind up purchasing their products much too often and thus disposing of the old product, better known as junk by then. If ever I missed recognizing that we live in a disposable society; I know better now! This time I got a larger named brand, as if AT&T wasn't large enough, but they aren't in electrical products, and also, I got a model with all the bells and whistles I could want. I suppose this is to make up for having to get a new one in the first place! If it's only going to last a year it might as well be a GOOD year's use. I hate how disposable we have gotten. I always respected those who maintained their products like cars and household electronics. I felt I was one of those people. I hate landfills and thus recycle more than anyone else on my block. Where did it get me this time! Well...now I can at least answer the phone because the phone works...for now!

The Latest James Bond Spoof

I am a James Bond fan yet I have to say that, other than Casino Royal, the latest spoof off 007, Johnny English, is amazingly humorous. You can always expect slap stick folly with Rowan Atkinson. This is a cheaper spoof than the expensive 1967 Casino Royal, but worth it. Expectations of predictability were happily incorrect & I found myself just riding the wave of Atkinson's antics. For those of you wanting good wholesome entertainment...This is it! It reads a 9.5 on my Happy Meter!

It's Disaster Relief not George W. Heroics!

Does it seem to you, as it does me, that Bush is riding the "Save the Floridians from the hurricane disaster," for everything he can? I fear the idiots will see this as heroic, on his part, rather than standard issue national disaster relief that would have happened anyway. Bush is taking this and running with it and that just shows how low he has gone! I hope when the debates begin that we can show true justice.
